The Minimum Equipment Needed
Beyond Bootcamp is a four day long photography workshop that takes place on the island of Okinawa, Japan.
Photography is one of the most rewarding of all creative pastimes. Not only can it be used for personal reasons, recording those special family moments, but it can also become a revenue stream. Okinawa is a perfect place to learn photography with it's beautiful landscapes, engaging culture and large potential to providing imagery services this course, for the beginner, is a must. Spanning four days, consecutive or not to suit the student, this workshop covers all aspects of imaging from the very basics as taught on my Photography Bootcamp and beyond. Other aspects taught are advanced landscape techniques, on and off camera flash as well as other aspects of lighting theory, working with models and basic editing in both Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop. If you're in Okinawa and serious about taking your imaging knowledge from absolute beginner to capable amateur then Beyond Bootcamp is the workshop for you.
Course Schedule
As mentioned the Beyond Bootcamp workshop runs over four days. These can be done consecutively, or not, depending on the schedule of the individual attendees. The daily schedule runs from 1000hrs through 1630hrs with a 30minute break for lunch at 1230hrs.
Day 1: Photography Bootcamp - We start with the basics, looking at our cameras to get an understanding of their form factor and the controls. We then go into defining and understanding the photographic formula to better understand the exposure triangle. Shutter speeds, apertures and sensor sensitivity will all become common terms. The goal of this day is to get all the students happy with shooting in full manual mode and understanding how, why and when changes should be made within the exposure triangle for any given reason.
Day 2: Lighting - This day will be spent learning all aspects of lighting from on and off camera flash, stop motion photography, High Speed Synch, first and second curtain sync. Students will also get to work with and understand light meters and reflector use.
Day 3: Working with Models - Almost seen as an extension of the previous day we now add working with models into the mix. For this day we will be working with a volunteer model and all attendees will get an understanding of how to work with models in both a studio and exterior photoshoot environment. This day is all about crafting light to enhance the human form.
Day 4: - Editing and Preserving Your Work - This final day of your workshop revolves around editing and presenting to your client. Touching on basic editing techniques in both Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop attendees will be taken through the steps of initial edits, creating workflow profiles, creating and working with Photoshop Actions as well as adding final touches in both of these common editing suites. There will also be a quick tutorial on creating watermarks for your imagery.
Attendee Capacity
I prefer to work in smaller groups with a maximum attendee number of four photographers. Given that I will also be acting in a personal overseeing role during the practical part of the day I don't want attendees to think that they are just another number. This Event will require a minimum of two attendees in order to run as planned. Attendance is on a strictly first come first served basis with all fees being settled via PayPal at the time of booking.
